  Through the decree of Ministry of National Education it was clearly stated that
the substance of science subject at SMP/MTs is integrated science. On the other hand,
current surveys only focused on science teachers of SMP/MTs in East Java in PAKEM
training (teaching with active, creative, effective, and joyful) conducted by MBE project
reported that most of teachers (92 from 118 teachers 70%) found difficulty to design
integrated science teaching and learning activity based on content standard for science
curriculum. Based on observation in some bookstores in Malang showed that there have
not been found science books for senior high school that were made integratedly. The
problems that are presented in this study are: 1) How are the suitable aspects of the
development of integrated science package of water theme at SMP Negeri 4 Kepanjen?,
and 2) How are the suitable aspects the instruction of the implementation of the
development of integrated science package of water theme at SMP Negeri 4 Kepanjen?
  This study is development study that used Borg and Gall Method. Thus, the aims
are the completion of (1) suitable integrated science package of water theme for students
of junior high school grade VII second semester at SMP N 4 Kepanjen, and (2) the
suitable instruction of the implementation of integrated science package of water theme at
SMP Negeri 4 Kepanjen. This study employs five stages, namely (1) preliminary study,
(2) designing, (3) pre product development, (4) pre test, and (5) product revision. The
suitable aspects of integrated science package of water theme and the instruction of the
implementation of integrated science of water theme was assessed using from the result
of validation of two science lecturers and two SMP science teachers.
  The result of the validation showed that integrated science package of water
theme got mean score of 3.65 with suitable criteria. Meanwhile, the instruction of the
implementation of integrated science got mean score of 3.60 with suitable criteria.
Therefore, the integrated science package and the instruction of the implementation of
integrated science of water theme were suitable to be used as the source and instruction
for junior high students, basically for students of SMP N 4 Kepanjen.
  Based on the result of the study, it was suggested to conduct further study and
development towards integrated science package of water theme. Further study is doing
experiment study and trial and error that are wider, thus empirically valid of integrated
science package can be obtained. Also, further study can analyze whether or not the
teaching-learning activity using integrated science package is efficient.
