Abstrak


Berdasarkan hasil observasi peneliti siswa kelas VIIIB Tahun Ajaran 2009/2010 MTs. Surya Buana, menunjukkan 80% siswa memiliki motivasi belajar rendah, keterampilan dasar sains yang telah diterapkan dalam pembelajaran biologi hanya tahap klasifikasi, Berdasarkan nilai rerata UH semester lalu menunjukkan 70% siswa memiliki nilai kognitif di bawah SKM (Standar Ketuntasan Minimal) yaitu 65, dengan soal ujian 80% pada tingkat menghapal dan 20% pada tingkat memahami (berdasarkan Taksonomi Bloom). Masalah motivasi, keterampilan proses sains, dan hasil belajar kognitif biologi yang masih rendah di MTs. Surya Buana Malang, ditingkatkan melalui penerapan pendekatan pembelajaran Multiple Intelligences, yang dilaksanakan dengan beragam metode pembelajaran yang mengembangkan kecerdasan majemuk siswa.

Penelitian yang dilakukan yaitu Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) dengan subjek penelitian kelas VIIIB Tahun Ajaran 2009/2010 dengan jumlah 30 siswa. Penelitian dilaksanakan sebanyak 2 siklus selama bulan Februari sampai Maret 2010. Pemecahan masalah dan peningkatan kualitas pembelajaran kelas VIII B dilakukan dengan 3 tahap PTK yaitu: (1) perencanaan tindakan; (2) pelaksanaan tindakan dan observasi; dan (3) refleksi. Penelitian ini menggunakan pedoman observasi, angket, dan soal tes. Data penelitian dianalisis secara deskriptif kualitatif.

Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa siklus I sebagian siswa ada yang kurang motivasi belajar dan keterampilan proses sains, dan ada empat siswa yang memiliki hasil belajar kognitif dibawah SKM. Tindakan perbaikan siklus II yaitu siswa dibelajarkan dengan metode praktikum karena berdasarkan hasil refleksi siklus I siswa lebih tertarik mempelajari materi biologi jika dikaitkan dengan dunia nyata (kontekstual). Sedangkan siklus II, semua siswa telah memiliki motivasi belajar dan keterampilan proses sains yang tinggi dan semua siswa memiliki hasil belajar kognitif diatas SKM.

Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan Pembelajaran MI dapat meningkatkan motivasi, keterampilan proses sains, dan hasil belajar kognitif biologi siswa kelas VIII B MTs. Surya Buana Malang. Saran dari hasil penelitian ini bahwa guru perlu dilatih untuk dapat menerapkan pendekatan pembelajaran MI melalui workshop dan lesson study, serta perlu penelitian lanjutan dan penelitian pengembangan untuk mencari metode pembelajaran lainnya yang dapat mengembangkan kecerdasan majemuk siswa.

Abstract:

Based on the researcher's observation result toward VIIB Graders by the year of 2009/2009 at MTs. Surya Buana, it shows that 80% of the students possess low level of motivation, science basic competence applied during biology teaching and learning only reaches classification level. Based on the regular test average score from the previous semester, it shows that 70% of the students acquire cognitive score below the Minimum Graduation Standard - that is 65 - which the 80% of the exam questions stands at the level of memorizing and the 20% others are at the understanding level (based on the Bloom's Taxonomy). The problem is the low level of motivation, science process competence, and cognitive learning result in biology subject at MTs. Surya Buana Malang; it is enhanced through implementing multiple intelligences learning approach which is conducted by using various learning methods developing the students' multiple intelligences.

This is a Classroom Action Research (PTK/ Penelitian Tindakan Kelas); the subject is VIIIB graders by the years of 2009/2010 consisting of 30 students. This research was conducted in two cycles from February until March 2010. The problem solving and learning quality improvement for VIIIB graders is accomplished by conducting 3 phases of Classroom Action Research, which are: (1) action planning; (2) action implementation and observation; and (3) reflection. This research employs observation guide, questionnaire, and exam questions. The research data is analyzed using descriptive qualitative method.

The research result shows that in the cycle I, some of the students have less-motivation both in learning and science process competence; there are four students who get cognitive learning result below the Minimum Graduation Standard (SKM). The remedy action in cycle II conducts the student to learn using practicum method; since based on the reflection from cycle I, students are more interested in learning biology materials if those are related to the real world (contextual). While in the cycle II, all of students have high learning motivation and science process competence; moreover, all of the students also get cognitive learning result score which is above the Minimum Graduation Standard (SKM).

This research proved that the Multiple Intelligences Learning is able to enhance motivation, science process competence, and cognitive learning result in biology subject for VIIIB graders of MTs. Surya Buana Malang. The suggestions from this research is that teacher needs to practice more to be able to implement multiple intelligences learning approach by taking a workshop and lesson study; besides, it needs a further research and developing research to seek for other learning method which is able to develop student's multiple intelligences.
