Speaking is a hard skill to learn especially for EFL learners. To improve speaking skill, the English teacher can build up students’ speaking skill by focusing regularly on the particular aspect of speaking, for instance, fluency, pronunciation, grammatical accuracy or body language. After being given the initial test, in the preliminary study the students have many obstacles. For instance; they get difficulty to speak English such as when they want to answer the teacher’s question as they do not have enough diction and vocabulary; they get confused to pronounce words, and forget what they say.

The purpose of this classroom action research is to improve the students’ speaking skill using project based learning through Vlog as well as looking at their speaking performance and their perception in the teaching learning process using project based learning through Vlog. The research is conducted in a cycle. This study involved 11 students as the participants. They are the tenth graders of accounting program of SMK Gamaliel 2 Madiun. Among 11 students, it was confirmed that 8 students have not met the criteria of success. The criteria of success comprises 2 who got score under minimum passing criteria (70) were required to improve their speaking score into 70 at good level and 80 % students’ perception through questionnaire. This study employed questionnaire of students’ perception and rubric for students’ speaking test.

The result of this study showed that after the students were taught using PBL through Vlog, the eleven students have successfully met the criteria of success. They were at good level in all aspects of speaking rubric.  The result of this study also revealed that project based learning encourages students to respond positively to the use of Vlog. The use of project based-learning through Vlog improved the students’ fluency, grammatical accuracy, pronunciation, vocabulary and content.

This learning model should be supported using a sophisticated technology and some facilities. This learning model can be implemented in different speaking level and different research design in order to discover more advantages and effectiveness of project based-learning through Vlog.
