The importance of understanding the attitude, motivation and personality of the students in the English learning process is crucial for English teachers and practitioners.This research is aimed at finding the relationship between attitude and motivation which are acknowledged as influential factors in speaking achievement across their personality factors.

This research employs a correlational research design, the instruments of which includeAttitude and Motivation Test Battery (AMTB), The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI), speaking test and TOEFL-like test. Sixty Non-EFL students of Maulana Malik Ibrahim State Islamic University of Malang who were taking English as their compulsory subject participated as the research sample. They were the fourth semester undergraduate taking TOEFL and Speaking Course. The data obtained from the questionnaires and the oral test were analyzed using SPSS 16program by computing the correlation coefficients using Spearman rank correlation.

The results of this research revealed that there are two main results; first, there is significant correlation among attitude, motivation and speaking achievement of extrovert students, that is 23,7%  and second, there is significant correlation among attitude, motivation and speaking achievement of introvert students, that is 15,3%. From two main results above, the researcher also found four sub results; there is correlation between: (1)attitude and extrovert students’ speaking achievement, r =0.20,(2) motivation andextrovert students’ speaking achievement r =0.47; and there is correlation between:(3)attitude andintrovert students’ speaking achievement, r =0.58(4)motivation and introvert students’ speaking achievement, r =0.42.In conclusion, attitude and motivation can be used as predictors to see the students’ achievement in speaking both in extrovert and introvert students although the percentage is low. The low percentage may be caused by the fact that factor that influences speaking achievement is not only from these factors. It means that there are other factors excluded in this research which may influence speaking achievement.

As the implication of this research, it is suggested that speaking teachers and practitionersencourage the students to have a good attitude and high motivationtoward English. It is important to know that the extrovert students are talkative and easy to communicate, but it cannot be guaranteed that they are good in speaking in English. Introvert students who are quiet and prefer writing to speaking, showed the similar achievement as well as extrovert students.

For the further researchers who want to conduct a similar research, is suggested that conduct the wider scope to varied levels such as the correlation among attitude, motivation and speaking achievement of beginner, intermediate, and advance students or other aspects of affective factors.

Pentingnya pemahaman tentang sikap, motivasi dan kepribadian siswa pada pemebelajaran bahasaInggris sangatlah pentinguntukparapelaksanadan guru Bahasa Inggris. Penelitian ini bertujuan pada penemuan akan hubungan antara sikap dan motivasi yang diketahui sebagai faktor yang berpengaruh terhadap nilai berbicara berdasarkan faktor kepribadian siswa.

Penelitian ini menggunakan desain penelitian korelasi, instrumen-instrumen yang digunakan adalah Attitude and Motivation Test Battery (AMTB), The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI), tes berbicara dan tes TOEFL-like. Enam puluh mahasiswa yang bukan dari jurusan bahasa inggris padaUniversitas Islam Negeri Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang yang mengambil matakuliah Bahasa Inggris sebagai materi wajib berpartisipasi sebagai sampel penelitian. Mereka merupakan mahasiswa semester empat yang mengambil mata kuliah TOEFL dan Speaking. Data yang didapat dari kuesioner dan tes berbicara dianalisis menggunakan program SPSS 16 dengan menghitung koefisien korelasi menggunakan model korelasi Spearman.

Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa ada dua hasil utama; pertama, adanya hubungan yang signifikan antara sikap, motivasi dan pemerolehan berbicara pada mahasiswa extrovert, yaitu 23,7% dan kedua, adanya hubungan yang signifikanantarasikap, motivasi dan pemerolehan berbicara pada mahasiswa introvert,yaitu15,3%. Dari dua hasil utama diatas, peneliti juga menemukan empat sub hasil, adanya hubungan antara: (1) sikap dengan prestasiberbicaramahasiswa extrovert, r = 0.20, (2) motivasi dengan prestasi berbicaramahasiswa extrovert, r = 0.47; danadanyahubunganantara: (3) sikap dengan prestasiberbicaramahasiswaintrovert, r = 0.58, (4) motivasi dengan prestasiberbicara mahasiswa introvert, r = 0.42.Secarakesimpulan, sikap dan motivasi dapat dijadikan sebagai predictor untuk melihat prestasi mahasiswa terhadap kemampuan berbicara baik pada mahasiswa extrovert maupun introvert meskipun presentasinya rendah mengingatbahwafaktor yang mempengaruhi prestasi berbicara mahasiswa tidakhanyapadafaktorinisaja.Bisa diartikan bahwa ada beberapa faktor diluar penelitianiniyang mungkin mempengaruhi prestasi berbicara.

Implikasidaripenelitianini, khususnyabagipengajar, disarankan untuk mendorongsiswauntukmemilikisikap yang baikdanmotivasi yang tinggi terhadap BahasaInggris.Pentinguntukdiketahuibahwasiswa extrovert adalahsiswa yang talkative danmudahuntukberkomunikasi, tapi itu tidak menjamin bahwa mereka bagusdalamberbicaraBahasaInggris.Siswa introvert yang pendiam dan lebih memilihaktivitasmenulisdaripadaberbicara, dalam penelitian ini menunjukkan kemampuanberbicara yang samabagusnyaseperti yang dilakukansiswa extrovert.

Untukpenelitiselanjutnya yang inginmelakukanpenelitianserupa, disarankanuntukmelakukanpenelitiankejangkauan yang lebih luas seperti korelasiantarasikap, motivasi dan prestasi berbicarapadasiswapemula, menengahdanlanjutatauaspek lain darifaktorafektif.
