Based on the observation and interview in grade V af SDN Rembang 2 Blitar city, indicated problems those are, (1) the students can’t understand the matter of fraction addition and subtraction, (2) the learning condition were still focus on teacher, (3) the students has lack of interest to matter of fraction addition and subtrsction, (4) the students study result matter of who pass and get value more then KKM is 70. This research aims to apply problem based learning models and improve the student study result of fraction addition and subtraction.

The aproachment of this research is qualitative approach and the type of this research is classroom action research. This research held in two cycles, in every cycle has 4 stages, those are planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. Datas collected and field notes. Then, the datas were analyzed by data reduction, data presentation, and evaluation.

The result of this research by problem based learning models at the learning mathematics matter of fraction addition and subtraction worked well and increase in cycle I. The percentage of classical mastery teacher activity wa 91,30% and increase to 95,9%with veru good criteria. The improvement also seen on the percentage amount students activity, in cycle I 89,27% with good criteria then cycle II 93,21% with very good criteria. Meanwhile the student study result also increase, but in the pre action stage is to cycle I has decrease percentage of classical mastery. The average of study result on pre action is 52,75 and percentage of classical mastery is 40% to 60,01 and percentage of classical mastery is 32,5%. Average value and percentage classical also increase in cycle II to 88,74 and percentage of classical mastery is 82,5% with good criteria .

Based on the result of this research, it can be concluded that the application of problem based learning models in the learning of mathematics matter of fraction addition and subtraction have been implemented well by the teacher and the student of SDN Rembang 2 Blitar city. Therefore, it is advisable for teacher who teach mathematics to apply problem based learning models matter of addition and subtraction, so that the student study result can be improved.
