Kemampuanberpikirkritismerupakansalahsatukemampuanberpikir yangharusdikembangkandalam proses pembelajara. Kemampuanberpikirkritisinidapatdikembangkandengan model pembelajaran yang tepat, pembelajaran yang tepatuntukmeningkatkankemampuanberpikirkritissiswa. Pada model pembelajaranmenggunakanProlem Based Learningterdapattahapan-tahapanpembelajaran yang dapatmeningkatkankemampuanberpikirkritis. Tahapan model pembelajarantersebutterdiridari

1) Orientasisiswapadamasalah,

2) Mengorganisasikansiswauntukbelajar,

3) membimbingpengalaman individual/kelompok,

4) Mengembangkandanmenyajikanhasilkarya,

5) menganalisisdanmengevaluasiproses pemecahanmasalah. Motivasibelajarmerupakandayapenggerakdalamdirisiswa yang berfungsiuntukmemberiarahandalammencapaitujuanbelajar yang diinginkansiswa. Berdasarkanpengamatanyangdilakukan di kelas X IPS 2 SMAN 3 Batu, bahwaadakemampuanberpikirkritissiswa yang rendah. Rendahnyakemampuanberpikirkritissiswadapatdilihatdaricarasiswamenjawabpertanyaan guru yaitudenganmemberijawabansingkat.

Penelitianinibertujuanuntukmeningkatkankemampuanberpikirkritisdanmotivasibelajarsiswa di kelas X IPS 2 SMAN 3 Batumelaluipenerapan model pembelajaranProblem Based Learningpadamatapelajarangeografi. Penelitianiniadalahpenelitiantindakankelas yang terdiridari 2 siklus. Setiapsiklusmemilki 4 tahapyaitu:

1) perencanaan,

2) pelaksanaan,

3) observasidan,

4) refleksi. Subyekpenelitianadalahsiswakelas X IPS 2 SMA N 3 Batusebanyak 32 siswa. Instrumenpenelitianadalahpertanyaanteskemampuanberpikirkritis, angketmotivasibelajarsiswa, lembarobservasidancatatanlapangan. Analisis data dilakukandenganmengukurkemampuanberpikirkritisdanangketmotivasisiswapadaakhirsiklus.

Hasilpenelitianmenunjukkanbahwaadapeningkatankemampuanberpikirkritissiswadanmotivasibelajarsiswadilihatdari rata-rata skorteskemampuanberpikirkritisdanhasilangketmotivasibelajarsiswa. Siklus I, rata-rata nilaiadalah 66,78, dansiklus II adalah 78,90 peningkatanpersentasisebesar 12.65. Sedangkanhasilangketbelajarsiswapadasiklus I adalah 79,56dan, siklus II adalah 80.14 persentasipeningkatansebesar 13.50. Berdasarkanhasilpenelitian, dapatdisimpulkanbahwapenerapan model pembelajaranProblem Based Learning dapatmeningkatkankemampuanberpikirkritisdanmotivasibelajarsiswakelas X IPS 2  SMAN 3 Batupadamatapelajarangeografi

Critical thinking ability is on of a thinking ability that must be developed in learning process. Critical thinking ability can be developed with the righ learning model to improve student critical thinking ability. In learning model using problem on based learning there are learning that can improve critical thinking ability. The stages of learning model consistof

1) students orientation on the problem,

2) organize students to learn,

3)guiding individual/group experience,

4) developing and presenting masterpiece,

5) analizing and evaluating problem solving proses. Learning motivation is the ariving force in studentswhich serves to give direction in achieving learning goal that is wanted by student. The desire learning goal of students based on observation that is made at the class of tenth social science two of SMAN 3 Batu, there was a low critical thinking skill of student can be seen from the way students in answering question from the teacher by giving short answer.

This research aims to improve critical thinking skill and learning motivation of students science two of SMAN 3 Batu through the application of problem on based learning model in geography subject. This sereach is a classroom action research that consist of 2 cycles. Each cycle has 4 stages namely

1) planning,

2) implementation,

3) observation,

4) reftection. The research subject was tenth social science two class as many as 32 students of SMAN 3 Batu. The research instrument was critical thinking skill of tes of question students learning motivation questionnaire, observation sheet, and field note. Data analysis was done by measuring critical thinking skill and student of motivation questionnaire at the cycle.

The result sholas that there was an increase in students critical ability and learning motivation seen from the average tes score of critical thinking skilland the result of student learning motivation questionnaire  in the first cycle the evarage score is 66.78 and the second cycle is 78.90, the percentage increase is 12,65. While the result of student learning questionnaire in the first cycle is 79.56 and second cyle is 80.14. persentage increase is 13.50. based on the result above can be cocluded that the application of problem on based learning motivation of class tent social science two students of SMAN 3 Batu on geography subject.
